I found this in the “drafts” section of the blog–something I’ve been trolling as late, to see what ideas got left behind. I did not leave this post. I’m not sure who did. This blog has been a site for a small and fluxuating number of contributors over the years…in any case I’ll post it here now, as a kind of ghost-slip-note.
In case you haven’t noticed, the city can be an awful place to live. From the time it first made its appearance in literature (Dickens, Baudelaire), it’s been seen as a pretty dark place, nearly uninhabitable for most of the population.
