Yes! These books are real! And you can order them!

April 12, 2008

When I was in high school, my buddies and I would invent bands. We’d spend entire periods filling notebooks with album covers and track lists and liner notes. Between classes, especially at lunch, we’d exchange what we drew and offer suggestions for improvement. Although none of us knew how to play any instruments, I have the feeling that if any of these bands saw the light of day, they would have been unstoppable.

Sometimes the Green Lantern website feels like one of those notebooks—all book covers and descriptions, but no actual books. I can assure you, though, the books are real. Honestly. They’re right here on my bookshelf.

We’re currently working on getting a Paypal account up and running, but it’s way more involved than any of us expected. In the meantime, if you’re craving yourself some Green Lantern, here’s a few ways of getting our books into your hands:

1. Amazon. Everything on the website is available through Amazon.

2. Your local bookstore. We’ve just sent a few cases to our distributor, SPD. Hopefully, they’ll be finding their way to your local, independent bookstores some time soon.

3. Contact us. If you’re an agoraphobe with a disabled Amazon account, write Nick at sarno@thegreenlantern.org. I’m sure he’ll help you out.

Until then, we’ve got some big, fancy ideas for the website. Along with the regular, olde fashioned paper editions of the books, we’ll be offering all of them as downloadable, print-on-demand files, with your choice of covers to dress them up in. Selected titles will be available as mp3s as well. Better yet, the print-on-demand and audio versions of the books will be available free of charge (though no one will stop you from donating a little something, however small).

You’ll be the first to know when it’s up and running. Until then, we’ll do our best to keep ourselves easy to find.
